Glad to know you are there for him and have presence of mind to handle it properly.
I think i got physically angry when i read those elders trying to tell you not to go inside of your ill brothers room!
we all know that this cult will drive those trying to leave to desperate measures, and today by brother was very nearly one of those statistics.
he slashed his thigh with a kitchen knife and was bleeding out until he called the police.. i got a call on my way home from work from a police officer, coincidentally it was one of my old friends from school who's now a cop.
he told me my brother is in hospital after an attempted suicide and has lost some blood but will be ok. but i should get to the hospital as he's asking for me.
Glad to know you are there for him and have presence of mind to handle it properly.

quite possibly the most cringeworthy thing i've seen them do yet.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tk88rstv6o.
Ugh. I can't UN-hear this can I?
Good grief.
some former jw protesters are wasting their time and energy "exposing" or criticizing the watchtowers 2 witness rule here's why:.
lets suppose the governing body changes this and expells anyone accused of child molestation even if accused by one person.
would that solve the problem?
I would say the internal "2 witness rule" means absolutely nothing at all.
All that matters is the lack of reporting to the proper authorities, and the basis for them deciding not to. Their internal rules can be whatever the hell they want really......as long as they do whats right in society first.
They haven't.......which is why they are in this pickle.
i clicked this link to the november 2017 tvjw video, in it they defend their 2 witness policy, though, gutlessly, they do not mention it in the context of child sexual abuse.. anyway, check out the christian jehovian song at 57:06, ugh, makes me nauseous.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksz0qiftsok&feature=youtu.be&t=53m25s.
Did anyone watch before the "apostate" part of that last talk?
At around minute 52, he gives a hypothetical. I think we all missed this because of the clear star of the program being the 2 witness rule justification. But here is the scenario.
A guy has 2 parents, and his mom dies suddenly. He becomes depressed. During that depression, his brother or sister is disfellowshipped. Now hes REALLY depressed. So what does he do? He turns on his computer and "views inappropriate material".
Yep, nothing directs someone to pornhub like your mom dying, and your sibling being tossed out of your religion.
Jesus Christ!

Who knew Otters were suck dicks!?
i wanted to discuss the (supposed) biblical events that disturbed me a lot when i was a jw.
these incidents were just read and discussed in the kingdom hall as if these are normal and justified, which clearly weren't.
perhaps this led to my awakening.
Ever apostate,
Actually I believe the official teaching is that anyone killed at the hand of God himself, will not be resurrected (since he can see what we cannot being outside of time and space and all that).
Unless it has changed. Maybe it has. Who the hell can honestly keep up.
Even then....what sort of asshole God would maul a kid, then resurrect him later. What was the point of killing him in the first place!?

My hairline is just at the beginning of turning my forehead into a "fivehead". I am training bears currently for when the occasion should arise at the convention. I am sure everyone will nod their heads and figure that those kids eaten by my unholy bear army of the night, got what they deserved.
Or as one brother put it in a talk he gave.
"It was righteous indignation.......just desserts!"
i started studying with witnesses about 21 months ago.
started going to meetings in march 2017, went to the memorial and attended my first convention.
i love it.
Allyson,
A couple hard truths.
1) Do not tell them you communicated online with ex-JW's. That will be a big red flag.
2) JW's are a nice and friendly community, but you ave no idea how closed off, simple minded, and judgmental the leadership requires these otherwise very nice and kind people to be.
3) Once discovered by the mass of the congregation as a transgender, you will most likely experience some sort of phobia and maybe worse.
4) WHY, are you studying with a fundamentalist religion considering your background? Are you in an area without the support of a strong LGBTQ community? Have you critically researched the teachings of JW's around Blood, Child abuse, 1914 and their exclusive appointment before God, and disfellowshipping/shunning? You should. PM me if you would like to speak further.
publication court of appeal, fourth appellate district division one state of california osbaldo padron, plaintiff and respondent, v. watchtower bible and tract society of new york, inc., defendant and appellant.findingwatchtower has abused the discovery process.
it has zealously advocated its position and lost multiple times.
yet, it cavalierly refuses to acknowledge the consequences of these losses and the validity of the court's orders requiring it to produce documents in response to request number 12. and, in a further act of defiance, watchtower informed the court that it would not comply with the march 25, 2016 order 39 requiring it to produce documents responsive to request number 12. the court, following lopez, supra, 246 cal.app.4th 566, as an incremental step toward terminating sanctions if watchtower persists in its unjustified conduct, imposed monetary sanctions.
I was thinking....if they want to take this to a higher court.....all the way to the supreme court even.....LET THEM.
It will only raise the profile of the case, get more people looking at it, have more potential interet from larger media outlets, etc...
Let them do it to themselves via the "Streisand effect".
i am having a conversation with a jw and they say you can not be disfellowshiped for this.
is this true?
i thought you can be disfellowshiped for this.
Here it is. Technically....no you can't be disfellowshipped for the "act" of reading "apostate" or critical literature.
Now.....if you TELL anyone what you have read, then you could be considered a cause for stumbling, and be disfellowshipped. Although it is very likely they would meet with you, and perhaps reprove you first if this is the case. If you feel like there was something you read that was on point......now you are really boned.
So the woman telling you this isn't wrong. But I wager if you said "are you allowed to read apostate information, or information critical of the stance of JW's".....you wouldn't get an "of course" or "yes". You would probably get a dog and pony show with obfuscation to the max.
